How do you learn? You go to school, you read and you do your best to memorize. These are all difficult time-consuming processes. What if learning could be instantaneous?
Artificial intelligence (AI) experts are suggesting that learning may become obsolete in 20 years due to brain implants. Yes, you read that right: brain implants!
This isn’t straight out of a sci-fi film, it’s an actual possibility. For instance, a team from the University of Pennsylvania’s Computational Memory Lab has already successfully enhanced people’s memory capabilities by stimulating brain regions using electrodes.
And then there’s Elon Musk’s Neuralink. The company hopes to one day merge computers with the human brain, a mighty achievement.
The firm already released a video that appeared to show a nine-year-old monkey playing a game of Pong using his mind. He did this with the use of the N1 chip that sees “threads” in the brain connected to the 4mm chip called the N1.
The demonstration made headlines around the world and made us realize we may be closer to having useful brain implants than ever.
What do you think of brain implants? Is it an efficient way to make learning obsolete or a scary futuristic technology? Watch our video to find out more.
