We’re all expecting Apple to launch a new low-cost phone this year, but until now it’s been unclear what the official name would end up being. Now we know, thanks to Apple’s online store.
As 9To5Mac reports, a listing for the Belkin InvisiGlass Ultra Screen Protection for iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 has been updated to also include the iPhone SE. As well as acting as confirmation the iPhone SE name is set to return, it also confirms this new budget iPhone will ship with a 4.7-inch screen.
If a screen protector isn’t enough evidence for you, there’s more. Apple offers AppleCare+ for all its available hardware products, and guess what else has appeared? There’s now the option to purchase AppleCare+ for iPhone SE, which costs $99. The availability of AppleCare+ for the new iPhone surely means an official announcement is imminent and we could be buying the iPhone SE before the end of April.
It’s an unusual time for business and consumers. Launching new products in the midst of a global pandemic is risky, but Apple must believe it won’t stop people choosing to buy a new, cheap iPhone. After all, the company did just release a $999 MacBook Air and iPad Pro.
